Tell investors of Invenergy’s proposed fossil gas power plant in Allegheny County to ask the company to halt its plans for this project.
Invenergy calls itself a leader in renewable energy. Yet when it comes to Pennsylvania, the company continues to invest in polluting fossil fuel power plants. Where is the investment in solar and wind in our communities? It is more important than ever that we move away from old and dirty forms of energy like burning fossil gas. Invenergy should stay true to its words and bring clean, renewable energy to Pennsylvania.

Dear Mr. Conklin,
Invenergy calls itself a leader in wind and solar energy. But Invenergy is proposing to build a polluting methane gas power plant in Pennsylvania that will only encourage and prolong fossil gas development. Blackstone’s announcement that it will no longer invest in oil and gas production is commendable, but this commitment must also extend to gas-fired power plants, which are highly polluting and create more demand for gas production.
In addition, experts in energy and economics have stated that volatile gas prices and changes in the electricity market in recent years pose greater financial risks to developers and investors and that financing a gas power plant is going to become increasingly difficult.
Blackstone should ask Invenergy to halt its plans to build a fossil fuel plant in Elizabeth Township and instead propose a clean, renewable energy project. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
