Hi friend, In late June, House Bill (HB) 1032 passed the Pennsylvania House by a broad bipartisan vote of 134-69. The bill would create the Pennsylvania Solar for Schools Grant Program, financing up to 50% of a solar panel array installation for any school in the state that applies, including community colleges and technical schools. This assistance is intended to supplement existing clean energy tax credits included in the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) that could pay for up to an additional 30% of the cost of a solar installation. Now we need you to tell your State Senator to pass HB 1032! This bill will expand the use of clean, renewable solar power and reduce air pollution associated with electricity generation in Pennsylvania. It will also create jobs in the solar industry, provide interactive educational opportunities for students, and help schools generate much needed income by selling electricity back to the grid. Increased income for schools could reduce local tax burdens and create additional funding for more teachers, support staff, educational programming, and needed infrastructure upgrades. This program will also help schools conduct solar assessments. Please tell your State Senator to introduce and pass a companion bill to HB 1032 in the Pennsylvania State Senate. | |
