Dear Friend, Have you started paying more for electricity in recent months? There is a bill—HB 504— that could help lower your energy costs. It is awaiting action in the Pennsylvania Senate. HB 504 would authorize community energy, including community solar, which would allow you to benefit from solar energy even if you are not able to install solar panels yourself. Tell your Senator to pass Community Energy bill HB 504. Community solar would let more Pennsylvanians access solar, including residents who are restricted by housing type or situation. It would allow anyone who pays an electric bill to participate in the benefits of solar energy without installing their own onsite system. Customers could subscribe to a larger community solar facility and then receive a credit on their utility bill for the electricity generated. HB 504 passed the House with bipartisan support and is now awaiting further action in the Senate. Our elected officials are working on passing the budget, but they cannot let proven solutions to lowering energy costs, like community energy, fall by the wayside.
